Disney (DIS) and Marvel’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” wins the weekend with another $97M in its second outing, the eighth biggest second weekend of all time and the fifth biggest for a Marvel Universe title. Overseas, the movie grossed another $110.5M for a foreign cume of $428.5M and $824.1M globally. The threequel has a 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, the second-best score ever for a Marvel title behind Sony (SONY) and Marvel’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
BOX OFFICE RUNNER-UPS: Comcast (CMCSA) subsidiary Universal’s “Twisters” placed number 2 again with another $22.7M for a domestic tally of 195.6M. Behind it was Warner Bros.’ (WBD) “Trap,” opening to $15.6M, in line with expectations. Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” placed number 4 with $11.3M as it crossed the $300M mark domestically. Rounding out the top five, Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” grossed an estimated $6.7M for a global cume of $1.55B, an all-time best for an animated movie.
